“For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name [is] Holy; I dwell in the high and holy [place], with him also [that is] of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”
Isaiah 57:15
“The LORD [is] nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”
Psalm 34:18
“The sacrifices of God [are] a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Psalm 51:17
“For all those [things] hath mine hand made, and all those [things] have been, saith the LORD: but to this [man] will I look, [even] to [him that is] poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.”
Isaiah 66:2
What is a Broken Heart, Contrite Heart a Humble Spirit? In order to Understand these elements we need to look at the Opposite of them. Below is the Dictionary Meaning of each:
A Contrite Heart: “feeling or expressing remorse or penitence; affected by guilt.”
A Broken Heart: “used in reference to a state of extreme grief or sorrow, typically caused by the death of a loved one or the ending of a romantic relationship.”
A Humble Spirit: “”modest; without an excess of pride.” A person who brags about being humble may have too much pride in being humble to actually be humble. Sometimes fictional characters try to earn favor by saying “I’m just a humble man in search of…” when it is obvious they are the opposite.”
A Prideful Spirit: “Prideful people don’t usually have many friends, since they think they’re superior to everyone else. Although the adjective prideful is occasionally used simply to mean “proud,” or pleased and happy because of some achievement or quality, it usually means something closer to “haughty.”
A person that does Not Have A Contrite Heart is one that has No Remorse in their Acton’s or Word’s that Offend God. They will Judge Themselves By Themselves and the World not taking God’s Commands to the Heart.
“For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.”
2 Corinthians 10:12
Not having any Guilt or Shame but Justifying Themselves according to Worldly Standards Of Men and Not God.
A person that has not had a Broken Heart Concerning God, is one that does not See Sin as Sin, but within their Sin having a feeling of Satisfaction For Their Accomplishments.
“18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”
John 3:18-21
“Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.”
John 8:34
“13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”
James 1:13-15
Someone who Loves The Sin, more than God, who Refuses to Turn Away From Sin, Justifying Their Actions. Not Weighing Themselves To God’s Standards, but Indulges In Evil Pleasures.
A person that is Not Humble In Spirit is one that Exalts Their Accomplishments that they themselves have made the Path in which they walk on. A person that is not Humble In Spirit will feel they are More Deserving Than Others In Their Accomplishments.
“2 Every way of a man [is] right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts. … 5 The thoughts of the diligent [tend] only to plenteousness; but of every one [that is] hasty only to want.”
Proverbs 21:2, 5
“And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell [him], Let not him that girdeth on [his harness] boast himself as he that putteth it off.”
1 Kings 20:11
“Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.”
Proverbs 27:1
“Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.”
Romans 11:18
“Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Ephesians 2:9
Someone who Looks At What They Have Accomplished, Above that which God Has Accomplished In Them and Through Them.
A person Having a Prideful Spirit is very similar to not having a Humble Spirit but it takes on a Characteristic of as Being God or Better Than God.
“12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! [how] art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”
Isaiah 14:12-14
When we put ourselves into the Place Of God thinking we have Power and Authority Above God or even others then a Prideful Spirit is in control. There are some of you out there that do the following which is the Root Of Pride, you say within your heart… “I have a Masters Degree in…”, “I am…” usually, but not always, is a sign of Pride. It is when we Exalt Ourselves to be More Than what we really are.
Some examples: someone who says they are one of the Five Offices of Jesus to use that position more as an Overlord. That does not mean they cannot Walk in their Office with Confidence, but it means they Must Walk in their Office with Humility. Someone who claims a Job Title but is not worthy of that title and uses that Title to Lord Over Others. Even those who go and get some type of Degree whether it is Secular or steeped in Religion and uses that Degree to Better Themselves Above Others would be an Arrogant Way.
“For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think [of himself] more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
Romans 12:3
To have a Broken and Contrite Heart is not fun, but the rewards are Eternal. Jesus and The Father hold that person with the highest regards, becoming The Vessels Of God. Moses had to be Broken, Paul had to be Broken and many others in between have had to be Broken in order to be Used Of God.
“1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, 2 Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words. 3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make [it]. 5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay [is] in the potter’s hand, so [are] ye in mine hand, O house of Israel. 7 [At what] instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy [it]; 8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them. 9 And [at what] instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant [it]; 10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.”
Jeremiah 18:1-10
“20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, [and] prepared unto every good work. 22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”
2 Timothy 2:20-22
Let us all Seek God to be Vessels Of Honor and Not Vessels Of Dishonor. Let every one of us pray in like manner, “Lord Jesus Brake Me and Make Me Into A Vessel Of Honor that Will Glorify You With My Life…”. Let us all Seek Jesus to Have a Broken and Contrite Heart Before Him. It is not a fun task, but is one that is needed to purge us from sin, to make us into The Children Of God. As always we have a choice to live our lives the way we want to or to live our lives to Glorify Jesus in All that we may Do and Say.
As it has come to mind, as The Holy Spirit says, some of you have Broken Covenants with God and with Man are bringing Dishonor to Jesus, Repent, turn away from a Prideful Spirit, Humble yourselves before Jesus, doing His Will!
As always, your Choice.
Amen and Amen!!!
Be Blessed in the Mighty Name of Jesus, Our Lord and Savor!!!
Amen and Amen!!!
