“The LORD [is] the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.”
Brothers and Sisters from Who’s Cup do you take a Drink From? We need to Understand that The Cup Represents Life and the Substances Of Life. Too many in The Body are making the Outside of The Cup clean and presentable to the liking of others, but Jesus said to make the Inside Clean First.
“25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. 26 [Thou] blind Pharisee, cleanse first that [which is] within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.”
I saw an insert from a Brother the other day, saying we needed to get back to Basics dealing with our Faith, with our Walk. Too many in The Body are Sick, Diseased but not from a virus, but, from Allowing Worldly Affairs to Influence, Drinking The Cup Of The World to Maintain one’s Life.
When we Accepted the Offer that The Father gave us, that is, to Accept Jesus, His Son, to be Our Sacrifice For Sin, it was an All Inclusive Offer. What this means is that when we Asked Jesus to come into our Lives, to take away Our Sin, to Cleanse Us, we Agreed to The Fathers Terms, that is, to be Like Jesus, His Son. It was not an Agreement that Jesus Sets Us Free, to Cleanse Us, then to only be as a pig, that returns to his place of Filth to become Filthy once again. The Contract, The Agreement with Jesus is that we Agree to Drink From His Cup, to be As He Is.
Brothers and Sisters: it is Not Easy, in fact, it is Very Hard. The reason being, we do not Want To Give Up Control of Our Lives, we Want Complete Control, it is part of Our Nature. We find Jesus, while in the Flesh, struggled with this same infirmity, He struggled to Let Go of His Flesh.
“36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. 37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. 38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. 39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou [wilt].”
This is the most Life Changing Event that Jesus was about to go through and He did Not Want It and within Himself He struggled to Let Go. The Cup in which Jesus had to Drink From was one of Pain, Suffering, Mockery, and Ridicule. The Cup was filled with being Whipped, Beaten, Spit Upon, and Stoned. The Cup was filled with False Accusations, False Witnesses, Unjustification Of Actions. The Cup was filled with the Betrayal Of Those Whom Jesus Loved. The Cup was filled with The Father turning His Face away from His Son, when Jesus had taken the Sins of the World upon Himself.
Drinking from The Cup Requires Sacrifice, Requires Obedience, it Requires Change, and without these, we are Not Acceptable To Jesus or The Father.
Jesus most Precious Words “…nevertheless not as I will, but as thou will”. Jesus Let Go of His Life, Let Go of His Will To Live and Accepted The Will Of The Father. What you need to Understand is that Jesus did Not Have To, He could have Chosen His Own Will, His Own Way, His Own Desires.
“50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him. 51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out [his] hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear. 52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. 53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?”
Jesus indeed could have Drank From A Different Cup, then His Fathers Cup…and The Father would have Allowed Him to do so. That is why Jesus said, “But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled…”, it was a Matter Of Choice! All of History and where we are right now could have been changed to a Different Outcome if Jesus had Not Obeyed, had He Not Submitted To Change, had He Not Given His Will up To The Father.
Jesus said, (paraphrased), If you Really Love Me, The Son Of God, The Sacrificial Lamb, then Do AS I SAY! If you Really DO NOT Love Me, The Son Of God, The Sacrificial Lamb, then DO WHAT EVER YOU DESIRE, WHAT EVER YOUR WILL IS TO DO!!!
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
This is Our Cup, to Walk In Obedience to the Complete Scriptures, whom, Is Jesus. It is a matter of Choice of Which Cup you Truly Desire to Drink From…The Cup Of The World or The Cup Of Jesus!
Now, The Cup has Two Parts, the Inside and the Outside and they can be very different from one another. If you take a physical cup and make it Dirty Inside, leaving the Outside of it Clean and Offer it to someone who cannot see the Inside, they Accept It, not knowing what is Inside, that it is Dirty…this is Deception, it Appears to be Clean, when it is Not. So likewise are there too many within The Church, The Body, that do the same. They make themselves Appear to be Godly, but are not. They Tithe, they Sing, they Read The Bible, they are a “Board Member”, they are Teachers… for the Outward Appearance they are Godly, but The Cup they offer is Death.
We need to Understand that The Cup represents Our Bodies, the Inside Of The Cup Is OUR Soul, OUR Minds. You can Read The Scriptures for a Thousand Years and still go to The Lake Of Fire. So, You Must Change YOUR Soul, YOUR Minds to make The Outside Of The Cup Truly Clean, to Become Truly Godly. The Transformation is Not Instant, it is Not Easy, it is Not Fun. It takes Hard Work!
“Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17
Now, there are Two Points that we need to point out here. The First is that The Scripture says, “…if any man be in Christ…”. This is Not just Accepting Jesus as Saviour, it is a Conjunction Of Agreement, that is, it means in order for me to BE IN CHRIST then I Become AS He Is, which brings Point Two. “…old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”. This means that IF, IF, I am IN Christ, then what was Old, BECOMES NEW… but it is By Choice.
Take the example of the Seed Sower. There are Four Points that Jesus made…
“3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; 4 And when he sowed, some [seeds] fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: 5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: 6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: 8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. 9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.”
“18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. 19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth [it] not, then cometh the wicked [one], and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. 20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; 21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. 22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. 23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth [it]; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
The Cup, Requires…
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.”
The Cup that we have Agreed to Drink From Requires that We Die to Self, which means, that We Do Not Allow Satan to Steal The Word Of God, that We Do Not Allow Tribulations or Persecutions to Destroy The Word Of God, that We Do Not Allow The World or Flesh to Destroy The Word Of God. It Means that By The Word I Become Unmovable Within God’s Realm, that I Become The Living Word Of God in MY Everyday Life.
The Cup is not just a mere utensil, but The Cup is Life Everlasting! In order for the World to Know Jesus, then, We Must Become AS Jesus Is. If we say that Jesus is Within us and yet do not Obey His Word, then we are liars, deceiving ourselves and others around us…in which We will be Judged By Jesus.
“46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? 47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: 48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. 49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”
Brothers and Sisters YOU need to fall on your faces before Jesus even as Jesus fell on His Face before The Father and Repent! You need to Examine Your Life, not according to The World, but According To Scriptures, God’s Holy Word, BECOME The Living Word Of God!!!
Too many, having Their Cup Full of Worldly, Fleshly Desires, needing to Change by the Washing Of The Word, going back to Basics, Desiring The Milk Of The Word.
“That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,”
“1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
“But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of [that] bread, and drink of [that] cup.”
1 Corinthians 11:28
Amen and Amen!!!
Be Blessed in the Mighty Name of Jesus, Our Lord and Savior!!!
