“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”
Revelation 1:8
“5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.”
Exodus 20:5-6
Brothers and Sisters, do you Know what Mercy is? How have we Obtained Mercy? There is a process that must take place in order that Mercy is given. For God first had Mercy on us in the mere fact that He Loves Us giving us a way to Redemption, in that Redemption Obedience is Expected, even Demanded.
“15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
John 3:15-17
Mercy is having compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm them. This is what Mercy is, but once we have Accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior do we still need Mercy? The answer is Yes, each day of our existence we need to Find Mercy, that is, if you understand the Why. We need to Understand God, who He is, His Desires, His Love has not changed since the beginning of time, He is the same God from the Old Testament to the New Testament.
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus spans the connection between the Old and the New giving us the First Step of Mercy. God’s Mercy is given out of a Pure Love For His Creation, that is, Agape Love. But in that Love, in that Mercy there is the Expectation Of Obedience that we must Walk In. So, now we have a dilemma, we are told to Walk Holy, that is Perfect even as God is Holy and Perfect, but yet our failures are before use night and day. When Jesus died on the Cross He took care of the First Separation which is the Spiritual Separation, but then we still have to deal with the Soul part.
“Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Corinthians 5:17
Many Brothers and Sisters have been taught that once you have Excepted Jesus that your, Body and Soul are Brand New, that nothing remains from the former self, this is a Lie that Satan wants you to believe. Three section in the verse we need to Understand. The First Section is “he is a new creature” this deals with the Spirit and we have been Washed Clean by The Blood of Jesus making us Able to be Obedient. The Second Section is “old things are passed away”. The “passed away” has this definition: to go past, pass by; of persons moving forward; to pass by; of time an act continuing for a time; metaph; to pass away, perish; to pass by (pass over), that is, to neglect, omit, (transgress); to be led by, to be carried past, be averted; to come near, come forward, arrive. The Third Section “all things are become new”. The word “become” has this definition: to become, i.e. to come into existence, begin to be, receive being; to become, i.e. to come to pass, happen of events; to arise, appear in history, come upon the stage of men appearing in public; to be made, finished of miracles, to be performed, wrought; to become, be made.
We, my Brothers and Sisters need to Understand that this verse is an Action Of Free Will on Our Part. We must choose to be changed into the Likeness Of Jesus, which is God. This Requires us to Agree With God In Our Lives, In Our Walk to be Like Him, to do What He Says which goes against our very nature. It takes hard work to become the person that God wants us to be in Him, to Bear Witness of a Godly Changed Life.
Now we have run into another dilemma, that is, how to Obtain Mercy from the one who Saved Us. I have found that it is the Key to my Relationship with Jesus and that it Must Occur in my Daily Walk. I must come to the Understanding that My Ways are not God’s Ways and that My Thoughts are Not God’s Thoughts, saying this, that the things that I know about this World, the things that I have been taught I must lay aside and be taught from God’s Perspective. There is One Word, One Action that is a Must in receiving Mercy, that is, Forgiveness. Some of you have been taught that once you have received Jesus into your heart that Forgiveness is a forgoing event that occurs because I have already asked for Forgiveness Of My Sins, this is a Lie from Satan.
A Blood Bought must Walk In A Repentive Life, always comparing their Lives to God’s Standards and in doing so, they Must ask for Forgiveness in their Daily Walk finding they have come up short to the Glory Of God. But this has become a problem within in the Church. To ask for Forgiveness to some you think it is beneath you, that the one time is good enough having not the understanding that Forgiveness and Mercy Walk hand-n-hand. There are those who think that asking for Forgiveness is a Weakness to the Strength Of God, when in fact it is in Forgiveness we Find God’s Strength. There are those who think they can Do What Ever, Say What Ever because Jesus has already Paid The Full Price, in The Spirit Yes, in the Soul NO, which is another twisted Lie from Satan, that is, Satan does not want you to Change Your Soul to Match The Forgiveness In The Spirit, he wants you to continue to live as you feel free to do.
“8 For my thoughts [are] not your thoughts, neither [are] your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:8-9
Brothers and Sisters the Mercy that we receive is that we must Recognize that Our Ways, Our Thoughts are not Justified In God’s Eyes, that we Serve A Holy God. We must continue to weigh our Lives with God’s Holy Word and asking for Forgiveness when we fall short. It can be a Bad Thought, a Bad Word, a Wrong Association, Wrong Clothing, Wrong Attitude and the list goes on. We are Not Perfect, but we are Expected to Strive For Perfection In Our Lives and in order to do that, we Must Walk In a Repentant Life Style. But, there is a problem in the World and in the Church, generations that feel they do not have to Ask For Forgiveness when wrong has been done to God or to another person. Empathy and Mercy also Walk Hand-n-Hand. Just as God Cared About Us First that He gave us His Son as the Sacrifice for Our Sin to Obtain Mercy Through Forgiveness, so must we also be to each other. This Must Start with the Blood Bought one to another before the World.
“By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
John 13:35
This Scripture is to The Church, NOT THE WORLD! This Scripture is an Action to Walk In Forgiveness, Obtaining Mercy from God First and then to Each Other. But and again I say But, this does not cover Disobedience. When Disobedience is done Willfully then Mercy will Lack, Forgiveness will Lack and Empathy will Lack with the person that Walks In Disobedience.
Here are some examples of a Life that Has Obtained Mercy and Understands Forgiveness with Empathy. To make things easier to understand we will use Person 1 and Person 2. Person 1 has said something to Person 2 and Person 2 took what was said with the Wrong Understanding to what Person 1 was trying to say. Person 2 now has an Offensive Attitude towards Person 1, Person 1 realizes that there is a problem and goes and talks to Person 2 to try and find out what is the problem. Person 1 realizes that what they have said was taken wrong and they must explain what they said. Does Person 1 or Person 2 need to Repent? It is Person 2, it was Their Attitude and Not Understanding that caused a Separation. So, Person 2 MUST ASK FOR FORGIVENESS… Person 1 could ask for Forgiveness if they had not made themselves clear in their original statement or if they did not say something correctly. We Do Not have to Repent, that is, Ask For Forgiveness if we cause an Offense To A True Statement, such as, if the people who do not accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, they will go to hell. This is an Offense Statement to many and it is a True Statement to All.
“Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;”
Matthew 5:23
“Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.”
Matthew 18:15
“Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.”
Luke 17:3
To Obtain Mercy there Must Be An Action Of Repentance, that is, they must Ask For Forgiveness. Now, before anyone gets the Act Of Forgiveness confused here, there are Two Different Acts of Forgiveness. One is to Jesus in Forgiving someone for an act of transgression against you, that you hold nothing against him or her. The Second is the one who has Transgressed Must Ask For Forgiveness to whom they have Offended, so that there is nothing that Satan can use against either before God. Now, if someone is Walking in Disobedience then Both Actions Must Take Place. By Walking in Forgiveness we Obtain Mercy both with God and Man. If someone did not mean to do something or they have said something that has brought an offense and they Ask For Forgiveness then IT MUST BE ACKNOWLEDGED AS SUCH, in other words, you must let them know that you have Empathy Towards them and have Accepted Their Repentance VERBALLY!
When I go to Jesus and He brings something to mind that I have caused an Offense with Him, I MUST ASK FOR FORGIVENESS to OBTAIN MERCY FOR MY ACTIONS. If I do not then Judgement to what I have done will be brought forth, either in this World or in Heaven.
A Scriptural example of this.
“22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. 23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. 24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. 26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. 27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. 28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took [him] by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. 29 And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. 30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. 31 So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. 32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: 33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? 34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. 35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.”
Matthew 18:22-35
We Must Ask for Forgiveness, Recognizing Our Faults to Obtain Mercy, this is both with God and Man. But this Action is Lacking in The Church. Many of you do not care that an Offense has Occurred or not and we know this by the Lack Of Asking For Forgiveness. If you are not Walking In Mercy Through Forgiveness with God, then chances are you are not doing it among The Blood Bought as well.
Mercy means You Have Asked For Forgiveness and cannot be Obtained any other way. We must Recognize the Offense with God First before we can Recognize the ones with Our Brothers and Sisters. So, it looks like this, the ones who are Walking in Mercy With God have a Forgiving Heart and Their Actions and Words are as such, both with God and Man. Think about your Walk…Do you Ask God to Forgive you for Not Being Like Him or do you use the excuse that you will never be perfect. Do you shrug it off thinking its covered By The Blood Of Jesus so there is no need to do it or do you think you are Justified, thinking you are above the Laws Of God.
I Walk in Mercy,
because I found Mercy,
In God, By God and Through God,
because of The Asking For Forgiveness
Continuously!
Amen and Amen!!!
Be Blessed in the Mighty Name of Jesus, Our Lord and Savior!!!
Amen and Amen!!!
